Thinking about your child’s Jewish Education?

Join us for an online information session about Makom Afterschool for students in JK-grade 5! (Looking for Jewish and Hebrew education for grades 6-8? Check out Makom ATID.)

We will discuss Makom’s approach to Hebrew language and pluralistic Jewish education, while answering your questions. Zoom link will be sent to those who register.

About Makom Afterschool

Makom Afterschool is a fun, inclusive, pluralistic Jewish and Hebrew learning program for kids in JK through Grade 5. Children from the diversity of downtown Jewish families find their place in our warm and welcoming community. Registration is now open for the 2024-2025 school year!

Makom is a diverse and inclusive community that welcomes participants who espouse many different approaches to Judaism, from secular to traditionally observant.

In order to join together as one community without regard to denominational labels, our services blend traditional and progressive practices. We offer men’s, women’s, and mixed (all-genders) seating sections. Women, men, and non-binary folks may lead parts of services.  We need an egalitarian minyan of 10 Jews and a non-overlapping traditional minyan of 10 men to start the maariv service, so we encourage you to come on time.

What’s Mimouna?

Moroccan Jewish and Muslim custom of friendship and eating together after the Jewish festival of Pesah (Passover) ends.

Registration required by Friday, May 3 at 10am.

If the regular or reduced-rate prices are not financially feasible to you, please contact Rabbi Aaron in confidence to arrange to participate for free.

If you’re able to contribute more, please consider buying a ticket that also helps subsidize a reduced-rate ticket or becoming a program sponsor.

In order to make this event inclusive and comfortable for all, please refrain from bringing or wearing any flags or other political symbols or statements. Thank you for helping to create an atmosphere of togetherness across differences.

Join us for a fun afternoon making and baking Matzah in an outdoor, wood-burning oven!

See if you can mix, knead, roll and bake in 18 minutes or less!  (Matzah won’t be kosher for Passover but it’s still a wonderful way to prepare for Pesah.)
